August 8, 2026 — EVERETT, Wash.: Although the game-tying run came to the plate in the game’s final inning, the Everett AquaSox fell to the Vancouver Canadians 11-8 in front of a sold-out crowd of 4,520 fans during the 28th edition of Frogstock presented by K&H Printing at Everett Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.
The Canadians took an early 2-0 lead, jumping ahead during the top of the first inning. Ty Southisene tripled on the third pitch of the game, allowing Jake Casey to smash a two-run home run before an out was recorded.
Trailing across the first two frames, the AquaSox offense battled back to take a one-run lead in the bottom of the third inning thanks to the bat of Brandon Eike. With two runners on base, Eike smashed his 23rd home run of the season, clearing the fence in left field to further his Northwest League lead in the category.
Vancouver rallied for three more runs of their own during the top of the fourth, regaining the lead. Austin Smith knotted the game 3-3 by hitting a solo homer, and each of Bryce Chance and Southisene delivered RBI singles to set the Canadians ahead. Everett rallied following Vancouver’s spark, though, to steal the lead right back. Cesar Quintas knocked an RBI single to bring the Frogs within a run, and Aiden Taurek roped a bases-clearing double to give his team a 7-5 advantage.
Dueling in a back-and-forth matchup, the Canadians plated five runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 10-7 lead. Maddox Latta lasered a solo homer to spark the rally, and Chance contributed an RBI double to tie the game. Providing the game-winning blow was Peyton Williams, who drilled a three-run home run to right center field to set the Canadians ahead for good. With the launch, Williams has now homered three times in his last three games played.
Chance provided Vancouver an insurance run during the next frame, hitting an RBI single to raise his RBI total to three on the night. Luke Stevenson shaved one run off of the Frogs’ deficit in the bottom of the eighth by hitting into an RBI groundout, but the efforts ultimately fell short as the Canadians threw a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning to lock down their third victory of the six-game series.
Pitching in a rehab appearance for the AquaSox, Seattle Mariners right-hander Carlos Vargas dealt one scoreless inning of work in his Everett Memorial Stadium debut. The 26-year-old native of Moca, Dominican Republic, allowed zero hits and zero runs while walking none and striking out none.
