September 6, 2026 — EVERETT, Wash.: Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today that utilityman Michael Arroyo has been promoted to the Mariners’ MLB roster from the Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers.
Arroyo, a 21-year-old from Cartagena, Colombia, is making his MLB Debut on Sunday against the Athletics at T-Mobile Park. Ranked as the Mariners’ No. 3 prospect and No. 45 in all of baseball, Arroyo is the eighth AquaSox alum to get promoted to the big leagues for the first time in 2026. Arroyo joins Nick Davila, Colt Emerson, Gabriel Gonzalez, Adam Macko, Curtis Washington Jr., Brock Rodden, and Lazaro Montes as former Frogs to reach the show.
The righty-swinging, righty-throwing Arroyo has shared time between the Double-A Arkansas Travelers and the Rainiers in 2026. He opened the year with Arkansas, hitting .287 across 65 games to go along with 12 doubles, 10 home runs, and 40 RBIs. His efforts earned him a promotion to Tacoma on July 7, where he has impressed by drilling eight home runs and 11 doubles with 41 RBIs while hitting .277 in just 49 games.
Originally signed by the Mariners as an international free agent January 15, 2022, Montes made his professional debut later that year with the Dominican Summer League Mariners. He found success early on, hitting .314 while tallying 10 doubles, two triples, four home runs, and 22 RBIs across 49 games. Arroyo also reached base at a high clip in the DSL, collecting a .457 OBP to go along with a .457 on-base percentage.
After playing four games with the ACL Mariners of the Arizona Complex League, Arroyo was added to the roster of the Single-A Modesto Nuts. Playing his first stint within the California League, Arroyo hit .234 across 57 games played, totaling 17 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 23 RBIs, and 36 walks. Returning to Modesto to start 2024, Arroyo showed why a promotion was deserved in the near future by hitting .279 across 60 games, smacking 11 doubles, five triples, and 11 home runs to go with 49 RBIs and 39 walks.
The Mariners rewarded Arroyo’s efforts with the Nuts, promoting him to the High-A Everett AquaSox on June 25, 2024. Arroyo excelled in his first taste of High-A, hitting .290 with 15 doubles, two triples, 12 homers, and 40 RBIs in 60 games. He also stole 10 bases, later receiving recognition as a 2024 Baseball America Minor League All-Star.
Joining the AquaSox again to open the 2025 campaign, Arroyo hit .269 in 65 games, collecting 14 doubles, 15 home runs, 39 RBIs, and 39 walks. His efforts earned him a promotion to Double-A, where he hit .255 with 10 doubles in his first action with the Travelers.
In correspondence with Arroyo’s promotion, the Mariners have optioned infielder Patrick Wisdom to the Rainiers. Additionally, Davila, a right-handed pitcher, was transferred to the 60-Day Injured List with a SC joint sprain.
