FREDERICKSBURG, VA, Sept. 23, 2026 – The Fredericksburg Nationals announced today that Matthew Ramstead will become the organization’s new General Manager.
Ramstead brings more than a decade of Minor League Baseball experience across marketing, food and beverage, sales, community engagement and overall team operations. Most recently, he spent eight seasons with the Lynchburg Hillcats and Hill City Howlers, serving as General Manager since 2021. During his time in Lynchburg, Ramstead became deeply involved in the community through local business and nonprofit organizations, including the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance, CASA of Central Virginia and Rotary.
“I’m excited to get to Fredericksburg, roll up my sleeves and get to know the people who make this community and the Nationals so special,” said Ramstead. “The relationships you build are what make this business so rewarding, and I’m looking forward to getting out into the community, meeting our fans and partners, and finding new ways to make Nationals baseball a part of their lives.”
Ramstead began his professional sports career at the University of Idaho in 2014 before entering Minor League Baseball with the Helena Brewers in 2016. A graduate of Lewis-Clark State College with a degree in Sports Administration, he has held roles spanning marketing, sales, food and beverage, community engagement and team operations throughout his career. In 2024, he was recognized as one of Lynchburg Business Magazine’s Top 20 Under 40.

Lincoln Evans will join Ramstead in Fredericksburg as Assistant General Manager after five years with the Lynchburg Hillcats/ Hill City Howlers, where he most recently served as Assistant General Manager following roles in marketing, community relations and group sales.
“Lincoln has been an important part of the Lynchburg organization and has continued to grow throughout his time with the club,” said Ramstead. “I’m excited to have him alongside me in Fredericksburg and know that he’ll be a great addition to the team.”
Virginia Credit Union Stadium will host one more baseball game in 2026, as the biggest in-state rivalry is heading to Fredericksburg. The UVA and Virginia Tech baseball programs will meet in a fall exhibition game on Saturday, October 3rd. Tickets are available now.
