FRISCO, Texas (September 2, 2026) - In a Double-A debut for the ages, Gleider Figuereo powered the Frisco RoughRiders to a 12-9 win over the Amarillo Sod Poodles, stamping an eight-run fourth inning with a grand slam Wednesday night at Riders Field.
After Ben Anderson (3-6) threw up a zero for Frisco (29-30, 68-59) in the top of the first, Sebastian Walcott struck with a solo home run in the bottom half against Amarillo (34-25, 70-57) starter Mason Marriott (0-1) and made it 1-0 RoughRiders.
Tied 1-1 into the second, Frisco grabbed the lead back on a soaring 445-foot home run down the left-field line for Max Wagner, his 21st of the season.
After entering the fourth inning with a 3-2 lead, the Riders exploded for eight runs. Figuereo picked up his first career Double-A hit with a leadoff single and scored on a two-RBI knock from Dylan Dreiling. After the lineup recycled and Figuereo came back up, the 22-year-old blasted a grand slam into the Lazy River to make it 11-2.
Amarillo scored seven runs in the later innings with home runs from Angel Ortiz and Druw Jones, but Frisco ultimately held on to beat the Sod Poodles and even the series at a game apiece.
Notes to Know:
- Figuereo finished with three hits and a walk in his Double-A debut. The grand slam also helped him tie his career high with 20 home runs on the season.
- Walcott has now homered in four consecutive games for the first time in his Minor League career.
- Anderson fired 5.1 innings of two-run ball and surrendered just two hits to start the win.
The series continues Thursday night at Riders Field, as Frisco faces RHP Junior Sanchez (5-3, 4.98) in a 7:05 p.m. start. The Riders have not yet announced a probable starting pitcher.
