FRISCO, Texas (September 17, 2026) - In game two of the 2026 Texas League South Division series, the Frisco RoughRiders could not sustain a 6-0 start and fell 12-7 to the Amarillo Sod Poodles Thursday, forcing a deciding game three Friday at Riders Field.
In the first inning, after a scoreless top half from Cole Stasio, Frisco (1-1) scored five times against Amarillo (1-1) starter David Hagaman. Gleider Figuereo drove in the first two with a double, before Max Wagner doubled in two more to make it 5-0 Riders. Sebastian Walcott added on in the second with a leadoff solo home run to put Frisco ahead 6-0.
From there, it was all Amarillo. Alberto Barriga homered in the third to make it 6-1, starting a stretch of four straight innings with a Sod Poodles run. After two in the fourth, Ben McLaughlin launched a solo home run in the fifth. Then, Druw Jones drove in two with a go-ahead line drive single in the sixth for Amarillo’s first lead, 7-6.
Frisco did not score between the third and the sixth against Brian Curley (1-0), but the Riders tied it up in the seventh on an RBI single from Paxton Kling. In the eighth, though, Zach Bryant (0-1) issued a two-out walk and Danny Serretti hit a bases-clearing double off Wily Villar to put Amarillo ahead again, 10-7.
McLaughlin hit his second home run of the night – a two-run shot in the ninth – to make it 12-7 and Sawyer Hawks held Frisco off the board to clinch the win and stave off the series defeat for Amarillo.
Notes to Know:
- Walcott’s second-inning home run was his first playoff hit in a RoughRiders uniform and his 10th combined homer for Frisco in 2026 between the regular season and postseason.
- Frisco used eight total pitchers and issued a season-high 10 walks on the night.
- Malcolm Moore had two hits and two walks and has been on base eight times in the first two games of the series.
With the series tied at a game apiece, Frisco and Amarillo will meet in a deciding game three Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Riders Field, with the winner moving on to the Texas League Championship Series and the loser done for the season.
