FRISCO, Texas (September 3, 2026) - The Frisco RoughRiders outlasted the Amarillo Sod Poodles, winning a thriller 14-12 on Thursday night at Riders Field.
Amarillo (34-26, 70-58) jumped out in front with six runs in the second inning, highlighted by a Trent Youngblood grand slam. The Riders (30-30, 69-59) answered with two runs of their own in the bottom half when Max Wagner plated a run on a groundout and a Luke Hanson RBI single, cutting the deficit to 6-2.
After an Angel Ortiz solo blast in the top of the third, Frisco scored five runs to tie the game at 7-7. Arturo Disla crushed a two-run home run before Marcus Lee Sang and Sebastian Walcott delivered run-scoring hits in the frame.
The Riders took the lead on a Hanson safety squeeze in the fifth before a Malcolm Moore two-run home run in the sixth and a Dylan Dreiling RBI double in the seventh pushed the lead to 11-7.
In the top of the eighth, the Sod Poodles sent five runs across to nab a 12-11 advantage, but Hanson then smashed a three-run home run in the bottom of the inning to put the Riders in front for good, 14-12.
Bryan Magdaleno (5-1) earned the win, recording the final five outs while Carlos Rey (5-4) was handed the defeat.
Notes to Know:
- Hanson's home run was his first Double-A long ball after hitting 14 in High-A Hub City.
- Dreiling extended his hitting streak to 24 games, the longest active streak in the minors by an active player.
- 15 of the 18 combined hitters reached at least two times and 16 different players scored at least one run. Walcott, who had scored in eight games in a row, did not score.
The series continues Friday night at 7:05 p.m. for game four of the six-game set at Riders Field.
