FRISCO, Texas (August 12, 2026) - Despite not scoring until the sixth inning, the Frisco RoughRiders beat the San Antonio Missions behind seven unanswered runs punctuated by a Max Wagner walk-off grand slam in a 7-3 final at Riders Field Wednesday night.
Both starters set the first six hitters they faced down in order and then San Antonio (19-22, 50-60) scored on a Carson Tucker triple in the third inning against Frisco (21-20, 60-48) starter D.J. McCarty.
The Missions scored again in the fourth and took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth, handing the ball to the bullpen after five scoreless innings from Fernando Sanchez. The Riders struck for their first run when Wagner bounced an RBI single to make it 3-1.
After two scoreless frames from Leandro Lopez in his return from the injured list, Frisco mounted another eighth-inning rally with RBI’s from Wagner and Ian Moller to tie the game at three. Eric Loomis (2-2) tossed a scoreless top of the ninth.
Then, against former Rangers’ World Series Champion Jose Leclerc (0-2), the Riders loaded the bases and Wagner drilled the game-ending grand slam on the ninth pitch he saw.
Notes to Know:
- Wagner’s walk-off grand slam gave him home runs in back-to-back games to start this series and extended his career high to 15 on the season.
- Wagner tied a Riders’ season high with six RBI in a single game, joining Orlando Martinez, who drove in six against Amarillo in April.
- Lopez struck out four across two scoreless innings in his first game action since May.
With the series tied at a game apiece, the Riders send LHP Dylan MacLean (7-3, 4.32) to the hill against RHP Eric Yost (5-2, 3.13) Thursday night in a 7:05 p.m. start from Riders Field.
