FRISCO, Texas (September 9, 2026) - Behind a strong Double-A debut from center fielder Paxton Kling, the Frisco RoughRiders outlasted the Wichita Wind Surge 7-5 Wednesday night at Equity Bank Park.
For the second straight night, Wichita (28-37, 52-79) took a first inning lead, plating a run on a Jaime Ferrer bases-loaded walk. Frisco (32-33, 71-62) took a 2-1 lead in the third, however, on an RBI double from Kling and the ensuing hit from Ian Moller.
Then, as the first batter of the bottom of the third, Graham Brown tied the game back up with a soaring solo home run against Ben Anderson.
The Riders ripped off four consecutive two out hits against Darren Bowen (6-3) to grab a 6-2 edge in the top of the fifth, including two more driven in by Kling on a broken-bat single.
Leandro Lopez (3-2) and Josh Trentadue retired all 10 batters they faced out of the bullpen, but after Frisco extended the lead to 7-2 on a seventh inning wild pitch, the Wind Surge plated three in the eighth. Austin Roberts put an end to the rally, though, and collected the final four outs for his third save of the season.
Notes to Know:
- Roberts started Friday’s game against Amarillo before returning to the closer role to grab the save.
- Kling, who started in center and batted seventh, had two hits, three RBI and a steal in his first career Double-A game.
- Between the fourth and fifth innings, Frisco collected seven two-out hits.
With the series knotted up at a game apiece, Frisco seeks a second straight win Thursday, with RHP Cole Stasio (1-1, 5.34) set to throw against RHP Ty Langenberg (1-6, 3.81) in a 6:35 p.m. start at Equity Bank Park
