MIDLAND, Mich. – The Great Lakes Loons (55-41) (19-13) dominated the Fort Wayne TinCaps (43-55) (16-16) 11-1 with starter Hyun-Seok Jang throwing six scoreless in his High-A debut on an 88-degree sunny Thursday night at Dow Diamond.
- Right-hander Hyun-Seok Jang delivered six scoreless innings and retired 11 in a row from the second to the fifth inning. The 22-year-old permitted just three baserunners.
- Great Lakes had three multi-run innings. TinCaps starter Carson Montgomery, after three scoreless, walked four in the bottom of the fourth. Jaron Elkins and Jose Meza each walked with the bases loaded. Gio Cueto brought home a run with an infield single.
- In the final two innings, Fort Wayne committed three errors. Logan Wagner delivered a two-run single with the bases loaded in the seventh. Two TinCaps errors came on one play, a Chase Harlan infield single in the eighth. Fort Wayne’s Justin DeCriscio throw to second base was wild and Alex McCoy from foul territory had an errant throw to third base. The play scored four runs.
- Emil Morales singled twice and walked twice. Morales came home to score three times. The 19-year-old has an eight-game hitting streak.
- Matt Lanzendorfer, Cody Morse and Joseilyn Gonzalez collected the final nine outs. Morse threw for the first time at Dow Diamond since April 30th.
Rounding Things Out
The Loons tallied 11 runs without an extra-base hit.
