Grasshoppers Drop 8-4 Decision to Hot Rods

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 8-4, on Thursday evening. With the win, the Hot Rods improved to 23-10 in the second half of the season, while the Grasshoppers dropped to 19-14. Bowling Green outhit Greensboro, 10-7, as the Grasshoppers committed two errors.

Catcher Cam Janik led the Grasshoppers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run scored. Edward Florentino, Jared Jones, Axiel Plaz, Carlos Caro, and Josh Tate also recorded hits for Greensboro.

Designated hitter Justyn-Henry Malloy led the Hot Rods offensively, going 2-for-5 with a home run, one RBI, and one run scored. Outfielder Aiden Smith followed with a 2-for-4 performance that included a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Nathan Flewelling, Tony Santa Maria, Narciso Polanco, Ryan McCoy, Nicandro Aybar, and Jhon Diaz also recorded hits for Bowling Green.

Right-handed pitcher Treyson Peters made the start on the mound for Greensboro, striking out two batters while allowing six hits, three earned runs, and one walk over four innings. Peters was charged with the loss, dropping to 5-2 on the season.

Right-handed pitcher Jadon Bercovich started for Bowling Green, recording one strikeout while allowing one hit, one earned run, and one walk over two innings. Jackson Lancaster earned the win for the Hot Rods, improving to 1-0 on the season.
