GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 15-5, on Friday, July 31. With the win, the Hot Rods improved to 24-10 in the second half of the season, while the Grasshoppers dropped to 19-15. Bowling Green outhit Greensboro, 16-11, as the Grasshoppers committed one mishap.
Outfielder Dylan Palmer led the Grasshoppers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Jhonny Severino followed with a 2-for-4 performance that included two home runs, two RBI, and two runs scored. Axiel Plaz also recorded two hits, going 2-for-4 with one run scored. Brian Sanchez, Tony Blanco Jr., Carlos Caro, and Josh Tate each added a hit for Greensboro.
Infielder Adrian Santana paced the Hot Rods offensively, going 4-for-6 with a double, three RBI, and one run scored. Nicandro Aybar went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored, while outfielder Aiden Smith went 3-for-6 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs scored. Ryan McCoy and Bryan Broecker each recorded two hits, while Narciso Polanco and Larry Martinez each added a hit for Bowling Green.
Right-handed pitcher Hung-Leng Chang started on the mound for Greensboro, recording four strikeouts while allowing seven hits, five earned runs, and three walks over four innings of work. Brandon Cain was charged with the loss for the Grasshoppers and fell to 0-1 on the season.
Right-handed pitcher Trevor Harrison started for Bowling Green and tallied seven strikeouts while allowing eight hits and five earned runs over six innings. Kaleb Corbett earned the win for the Hot Rods and improved to 4-2 on the season.
