LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia – The Gwinnett Stripers (30-30, 68-66) exchanged zeros all night long until the ninth inning, when the Charlotte Knights (31-29, 73-62) got an RBI single from Dru Baker to win it 1-0 at Gwinnett Field. Charlotte leads the series 2-1.
Decisive Plays: Rehabbing Atlanta Braves pitcher Reynaldo Lopez went back and forth with Charlotte's Jonathan Cannon for the first five innings until each squad turned it over to their bullpens, which continued the scoreless contest. With the game still knotted at 0-0 in the top of the ninth, Charlotte got the game's only run as Mario Camilletti singled off Rolddy Muñoz (L, 0-4) and scored on a one-out single by Baker. In the bottom of the ninth, the Stripers got runners on first and third but couldn't come through against Tanner McDougal (W, 1-2).
Key Contributors: Lopez tossed 5.0 scoreless innings (2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 SO) in his third rehab outing with Gwinnett. Jose Azocar (2-for-3) had two of the Stripers’ four hits, all singles. For Charlotte, Baker (1-for-4, RBI) drove in the game's only run.
Noteworthy: The Stripers are now 13-28 in one-run games. With his stolen base in the seventh, DaShawn Keirsey Jr. became the third player in Gwinnett history to reach 40 steals in a single season (Forrest Wall had 52 in 2023, Luis Durango had 46 in 2012). Gwinnett starting pitchers have combined to allow just two runs (1 ER) over 17.1 innings in the three games this week, a 0.52 ERA.
