LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Brett Wisely belted a pair of home runs, walked three times, scored five runs, and added four RBIs in a perfect night as the Gwinnett Stripers (29-27, 67-63) cruised to a 13-7 triumph over the Louisville Bats (18-38, 57-72) on Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field. Gwinnett is 5-0 on the series and has won six straight games.
Decisive Plays: Solo home runs by Jose Azocar (5) in the first inning and Wisely (9) in the second inning gave the Stripers an early 2-0 lead. Louisville pulled ahead 3-2 in the third on a three-run homer by Noelvi Marte (9). Trailing 4-3 in the fifth, Gwinnett went back ahead 8-4 with a five-spot highlighted by a game-tying double from David McCabe, go-ahead two-run single by Rowdy Tellez, and two-run single by DaShawn Keirsey Jr. Up 10-4 through seven, Wisely put the game out of reach at 13-4 with his second homer of the night, a three-run shot to left-center (10). Louisville scored three runs in the ninth to close it to 13-7.
Key Contributors: Wisely (2-for-2, 2 homers, 5 runs, 4 RBIs, steal) was one of five Stripers with a multi-hit effort. McCabe (4-for-6, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs) and Lizandro Espinoza (4-for-5, RBI, steal) each had four hits, while Tellez (2-for-6, 2 RBIs) and Keirsey Jr. (2-for-5, 2 RBIs, steal) both drove in two. Cedric De Grandpre (W, 1-2) earned his first career Triple-A win (5.0 IP, 7H, 4 R, 1 ER 3 BB, 5 SO). For Louisville, Marte went 3-for-5 with a double, homer, and five RBIs.
Noteworthy: Thanks to his fifth career two-homer game, Wisely became just the fifth player in Gwinnett history to score five runs in a game (first since Yuli Gurriel on July 3, 2024 at St. Paul). McCabe is now batting .444 with six extra-base hits, 11 RBIs, and a 1.248 OPS over his first seven games with the Stripers this year. Jim Jarvis went 0-for-4 but walked twice to extend his team-best on-base streak to 26 games.
