HARRISBURG, Pa. (Aug. 28, 2026) — The Senators and Baysox traded blows Friday night, heading into extras tied 6-6. Chesapeake scored three runs in the 10th to lead 9-6. Harrisburg loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the inning after scoring a run. The rally fell short, and the Baysox won 9-7.
The teams combined to issue 17 walks, commit four errors and allow seven unearned runs.
The Senators scored first after the Baysox' JT Quinn issued four walks in the second. Devin Fitz-Gerald drew a bases-loaded walk to lead 1-0.
Chesapeake answered with a run in the third off RHP Blake Brown to tie the game 1-1.
In the bottom of the third, Ethan Petry launched a solo homer, his 14th of the season in Double-A, to push Harrisburg back in front 2-1.
Then the Baysox plated four runs in the fourth off RHP Kyle Luckham on four hits, an error and a walk to lead 5-2.
The Sens got a run back in the bottom of the fourth. Fitz-Gerald doubled with two outs. Then an error on a Branden Boissiere groundball brought him in to score and cut the deficit 5-3.
Both sides went down in order in the fifth.
In the bottom of the sixth, still trailing 5-3, Harrisburg had men on second and third with no outs after two walks and a wild pitch. Fitz-Gerald drew a one-out walk to load the bases.
Then Boissiere hit a tapper in front of the plate. The Baysox' pitcher, Alex Pham, fielded and flipped home for the force out. Catcher Ethan Anderson then tried for the double play at first but threw the ball down the rightfield line. Cortland Lawson and Fitz-Gerald scored to tie the game 5-5.
Ethan Petry led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. With one out, TJ White doubled to the opposite field to score Petry and put the Senators in front 6-5.
Chesapeake answered with a run in the seventh on Ethan Anderson's two-out RBI single to tie the game 6-6.
Harrisburg went down in order in the eighth and ninth innings. RHP Jhancarlos Lara tossed a one-two-three ninth inning.
RHP Sandy Gaston (L, 3-5) came on for the 10th. With a man at third and one out, Vancy Honeycutt hit a two-run homer to put the Baysox in front. Another run scored following a two-out error, and Chesapeake led 9-6.
Honeycutt went four-for-six with a homer, triple, two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored.
In the bottom of the inning, Lawson's one-out single had men on the corners. Nick Mitchell hit a warning track sac fly to score White and bring the score to 9-7.
Then Fitz-Gerald singled and Boissere drew a walk to load the bases with two outs before a strikeout ended the game.
Fitz-Gerald went three-for-four with a double, RBI, two runs scored and two walks.
The game was the longest of the season for the Sens at three hours and 35 minutes.
Harrisburg aims for a bounce-back Saturday at 6:00 p.m. RHP Yoel Tejeda (0-4) has the start.
