PORTLAND, Maine (July 31, 2026) — The Senators and Sea Dogs traded blows back and forth through Friday night's game, but Harrisburg held on to win 9-6. Portland stranded the bases loaded to end the game.
Each team stranded the bases loaded twice in the game.
The Sens took the lead in the first for the second straight game. Sam Petersen opened the game with a double, scoring on Branden Boissiere's one-out single to lead 1-0.
Boissiere extended his hitting streak to 10 games.
The Sea Dogs jumped in front in the third, plating two unearned runs against RHP Josh Randall. In all, Randall went 3.2 innings, allowing the two unearned runs on four hits, a walk and four strikeouts.
Harrisburg tied the game in the fourth. Cortland Lawson doubled with one out. Two batters later, Kervin Pichardo drove in Lawson with a single to knot the game 2-2.
On the mound, RHP Kyle Luckham followed Randall with 1.1 scoreless innings, scattering three walks and striking out one. It was Luckham's second scoreless relief outing in the series.
Then the teams traded runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
The Sens jumped in front in the sixth. Portland's Jeremy Wu-Yelland walked four of the first five hitters in the inning to plate one run. Petersen drew the bases-loaded walk to score Caleb Lomavita. Then Lawson singled to drive in TJ White and lead 4-2.
The Sea Dogs answered with two in the bottom of the inning. RHP Jhancarlos Lara walked the first two hitters of the frame. With two outs, Brooks Brannon singled to score them both and tie the game 4-4.
Sam Brown provided the punch in the seventh, launching a two-run homer to right to push Harrisburg back in front 6-4.
Portland's Will Turner responded with a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh off RHP Thomas Schultz (W, 2-4), tying the game 6-6.
In the eighth, after Lawson singled with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch, Boissiere drove him in with another RBI single. The Sens led 7-6.
Lawson went 4-for-6 in the win with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored.
RHP Holden Powell came on in the bottom of the eighth. The first two men singled then advanced to second and third with one out after a sacrifice bunt.
Powell struck out the next two hitters to escape the eighth with the 7-6 lead intact.
In the ninth, the Sea Dogs sent position player Matt Fraizer to the mound. The Senators loaded the bases with no outs. With one out, Sam Petersen scored two with a single to stretch the lead to 9-6.
Harrisburg loaded the bases back up but failed to score further.
Powell came back out for the ninth. Back-to-back one-out singles brought the tying run to the plate, but Powell struck out Tyler McDonough for the second out.
RHP Yeuris Jimenez (S, 2) came on in relief of Powell. He walked the first batter he faced to load the bases, putting the tying run on first.
Jimenez then got the next batter, pinch-hitter Miguel Bleis, to ground into a fielder's choice to end the game.
The game time of 3:28 ties the Senators' longest game this season when Harrisburg beat Akron 13-12 in 10 innings back on April 7.
With walks piling up and one hit batsman, the teams combined to issue 20 free passes. The two staffs threw over 400 pitches in the game.
The Sens aim to clinch the series with a win Saturday at 6:00 p.m. RHP Yoel Tejeda Jr. (0-1) is slated to make his second Double-A start.
