Wappingers Falls, N.Y. – The Hudson Valley Renegades took down the Wilmington Blue Rocks 5-2 on Sunday afternoon at Heritage Financial Park, clinching its second-straight six-game series win.
This is the second time this season that the Renegades have won back-to-back six-game series. The first was from 4/15 – 4/26 at Frederick and versus Brooklyn.
The Renegades stole five bases in the game and set a new single-season franchise record of 231 total steals this year. They are averaging 2.1 steals per game this season.
The club record was 230 steals set in 2022.
The Renegades have stolen 52 bases in their last 11 games and have been caught only three times, a success rate of 94.5%. Hudson Valley is averaging 4.3 steals per game since 8/4.
All five of the Renegades’ runs came in the bottom of the second inning. It was just the second time this series against Wilmington that the Renegades scored first in a game.
After scoring five runs on four hits in the second inning, the Renegades grabbed just two more hits.
All but one Renegades batter got on base.
Wilmington grabbed multiple hits in an inning just once on Sunday afternoon.
After grabbing four extra-base hits on Saturday, Wilmington only had two extra-base hits on Sunday.
Hudson Valley pitching struck out 10 Blue Rocks. The Renegades struck out 70 batters in this series and lead the South Atlantic League with 1151.
The Renegades improve to 25-23 in the second half of the season and are 2.0 games back of Greenville who currently sit in the second-half playoff spot.
The Renegades move to 11-13 overall against Wilmington, 8-10 against them at home, and 10-8 in the second half. They have one more series against the Blue Rocks from 9/1-6 to end the season at Frawley Stadium.
LHP Allen Facundo (7.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 1 HR) set a new career-high with 7.0 innings pitched on Sunday, doing so on 95 pitches. It was the first time that Facundo had completed 5.0 innings in a game since 7/2 vs Wilmington, when he threw his previous career-high 6.1 innings.
Facundo allowed two runs for the first time since 7/19 at Brooklyn.
Sunday marked the sixth time this season that Facundo has allowed two-or-fewer runs to score in a start.
Facundo had struck out six-or-more batters in all of his last three starts. He is tied with Brendan Beck of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for most strikeouts among Yankees minor leaguers this season (133).
Facundo has 108 strikeouts on the year, joining Luis Serna as the two Renegades pitchers with more than 100 strikeouts. The last Hudson Valley tandem of 100 strikeout pitchers was Cam Schlittler (108) and Baron Stuart (102) in 2024.
Facundo walked fewer than four batters for the first time since 7/9 at Rome (five starts). Three walks was tied for his fewest in a game across seven starts since the beginning of July.
SS Jackson Lovich (2-for-4, 3B, 3 RBI, K, SB) has hit three extra-base hits in his last two games after not having one through 14 games played with the Renegades.
Lovich’s three extra-base hits came in just four at bats spanning the end of Saturday’s game and the start of Sunday’s.
Lovich is currently working a four-game hitting streak.
Lovich stole the Renegades’ record 231st stolen base this season.
DH Eric Genther (0-for-2, R, 2 BB, K, SB) got on base in all but one game played this series against Wilmington.
Genther stole his seventh base of the season.
C David McCann (1-for-4, K) has gotten on base in eight of nine games played in High-A
Sunday marked the third time this season with the Renegades that McCann didn’t bat in a runner.
LF Robbie Burnett (1-for-4, 2 BI, R, K, SB) extended his on-base streak to 11 games.
Burnett is slashing .216/.370/.351 across it with 2 2B, HR, 3 R, 8 RBI, 9 BB, 16 K, and 4-for-4 SB over the streak.
1B Kyle West (1-for-3, 2B, R, BB, SB) finished the series with hits in the last two games.
West stole his 15th base of the season, making him the first-ever Renegades player to hit at least 15 home runs and steal 15 bases in a single season.
West is one of 11 players in the South Atlantic League this season with a 15 HR-15 SB season.
3B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek (1-for-4, R, K, SB) has gotten on base in all 11 High-A games played.
2B Enmanuel Tejeda (0-for-2, BB, CS) extended his on-base streak to six games.
RHP Hansel Rincon (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K) has allowed runs to score in just five of 21 appearances since 5/22.
RHP Wilmy Sanchez (1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K) struck out the side in the top of the ninth to clinch his team-leading fifth save of the season.
Sanchez has not allowed an earned run to score in 10 of his last 11 outings.
