Greenville, S.C. (Aug. 6, 2026) – The Hudson Valley Renegades fell to the Greenville Drive 4-2 on Thursday night at Fluor Field.
The start of the game was delayed 47 minutes due to the threat of rain in the area, but after that moved out the game was able to start.
The Renegades took the lead two batters into the game after Core Jackson tripled and scored on an RBI single by Jackson Lovich. They had just three hits in the game after that.
Hudson Valley stole one base on Thursday and has 13 steals in the first three games of the series with the Drive. The Renegades have stolen 193 bases on the season, the second-most in a single-season in team history (2023) and are stealing 1.87 bases per game.
The Renegades improve to 13-10 all-time in the regular season against the Drive, and 7-5 at Fluor Field.
RHP Bryce Cunningham (5.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K) struck out three batters across 5.0 innings, getting the loss.
Cunningham retired the Drive in order in the first inning, but had to strand runners on base in every other inning. He wound up leaving six Drive runners on base across five innings.
Cunningham has recorded fewer than five strikeouts in three of his last four starts and in five of his last seven since 6/23 at Bowling Green.
He gave up an RBI single to Ronny Hernandez in the second and allowed two runs in the third to allow the Drive to take a 3-2 lead.
Cunningham struck out only one batter in the first three innings before recording strikeouts in each of his last two innings.
It was just the second time since 6/2 at Frederick that Cunningham allowed more than two earned runs in a start, a stretch of nine starts.
SS Core Jackson (1-for-3, 2 R, 3B, BB) had a triple for the second straight night and scored both runs for the Renegades.
Jackson is tied with Wilson Rodriguez for the team lead with five triples. That is the most any Renegades player has had in a season since Roc Riggio had five in 2024.
Jackson is also tied for the team lead with 55 runs scored. Three other players (Kaeden Kent, Wilson Rodriguez and Kyle West) have also scored 55 times.
CF Jackson Lovich (2-for-4, RBI) has hits in his first nine games in High-A and extended his overall hitting streak to 10 straight games. Thursday night was already his fifth multi-hit game and third in a row.
Lovich is batting .412/.447/.412 with 7 R, 8 RBI, 3 BB, 14 K, 5-for-6 SB in High-A.
3B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek (1-for-4) had a hit in his second straight game. His single in the seventh inning was the only hit allowed by Brady Tygart across 5.0 innings and the only hit for the Renegades after the fourth inning.
C Eric Genther (0-3, BB) extended his on-base streak to five straight games with a walk. He has drawn five walks and has four hits during the streak, good for a .391 OBP.
RHP Brady Kirtner (1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K) struck out three across 1.2 innings out of the bullpen. It was his longest outing since 5/19 at Brooklyn.
