Greenville, S.C. (Aug. 8, 2026) – The Hudson Valley Renegades pounded out a season-high 17 hits in an 8-2 win over the Greenville Drive on Friday night at Fluor Field.
Hudson Valley stole a season-high nine bases on Saturday and has 26 steals in the first five games of the series with the Drive without being caught. The Renegades have stolen 206 bases on the season, the second-most in a single-season in team history (2023) and are stealing 1.96 bases per game.
The performance was tied for the second-most steals in a single game by the Renegades since 2005. It was their most since stealing a franchise-record 11 bases on 7/6/22 at Jersey Shore. They also stole nine bases in a game on 4/30/22 vs Wilmington and 7/5/10 at State College.
Every starter in the Renegades lineup finished the game with a hit, and seven players recorded multi-hit games. The 17 hits by the Renegades tied the team’s season high also done on 6/26 at Bowling Green.
The multi-hit games were recorded by Core Jackson, Eric Genther, Kyle West, David McCann, Willy Monteo, Robbie Burnett and Maika Niu.
Hudson Valley had a hit in every inning except for the fourth.
The Renegades improve to 15-10 all-time in the regular season against the Drive, and 9-5 at Fluor Field. The Renegades are averaging 8.1 runs per game at Fluor Field all-time.
Hudson Valley has won back-to-back games for the first time since winning three straight games from 7/19-21.
Saturday’s game was delayed for 25 minutes in the top of the sixth due to lightning in the area, the second lightning delay of the week.
RHP Luis Serna (5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K) struck out two across 5.0 shutout innings and picked up the win.
It was Serna’s fourth start of the season allowing no runs and throwing at least 5.0 innings. However it was the first time he had done so since 5/6 vs Winston-Salem.
Serna generated nine ground outs against one fly out, one of his best GO:AO ratios of the season.
Serna struck out only two batters for the second straight start, tying his season-low strikeout total. He also issued no walks for the third time in his last four starts, and has issued one walk across 15.1 IP in his last four starts.
Serna is tied for the South Atlantic League lead with 106 strikeouts (JT Quinn, Frederick), and is second to Quinn in IP (93.1).
1B Kyle West (2-for-5, R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, SB) hit his 19th home run of the season in the top of the third inning.
West is third on the Renegades single-season home runs list, trailing Dan Grummitt (1999) and Tyler Hardman (2022) who each hit 22. He is also ninth on the team’s career home run list.
West leads the team with 69 RBIs on the season, the second-most in a single-season in team history, trailing Hardman’s 79 in 2022.
In the series with the Drive, West is 6-for-19, 3 R, 1 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 SB in four games.
C Eric Genther (3-for-5, 2 R, 2B, 3 RBI) extended his on-base streak to seven straight games by reaching three times. He has drawn eight walks and has eight hits during the streak, good for a .485 OBP.
Genther has reached base safely in seven of his last nine plate appearances.
Since 6/20, Genther is slashing .350/.468/.553 with a 1.021 OPS, 25 R, 10 2B, 5 HR, 27 RBI, 21 BB, 25 K, and 2-for-3 SB.
3B Jackson Lovich (1-for-4, 2 R, 3 SB) reached base twice and stole three bases.
Lovich has hits in 10 of his first 11 games played in High-A.
2B/3B Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek (1-for-4, RBI, SB) extended his hitting streak to four straight games.
CF Maika Niu (2-for-4, R, 2B, BB) had his first career multi-hit game and reached base three times.
SS Core Jackson (2-for-5, R, BB) reached base three times with two hits and a walk.
Jackson is also tied for the team lead with 57 runs scored with Kyle West.
