Bats Take 2-1 Series Lead Over Indians on Thursday Night

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Indians’ lone run came in the third inning as they were defeated by the Louisville Bats, 7-1, on Thursday night at Victory Field.

Duce Gourson hit an RBI single in the third frame to put the Indians (29-19, 60-63) on the board. Ivan Johnson opened the scoring for the Bats (17-31, 56-65) in the second inning on a solo homer, his 11th of the campaign. Three more Louisville runs came across in the third, capped by a two-run blast from Juan Brito, who also logged his 11th long ball of the season. The club followed with three more runs in the fourth for a 7-1 advantage.

Noah Davis (L, 2-10) allowed all seven runs (6er) across 4.0 innings with seven strikeouts. Ben Wereski (W, 2-1) tossed 6.0 innings of one-run ball for the Bats.

Indianapolis and Louisville continue this week’s six-game series on Friday night at 7:05 PM ET. Both clubs are yet to name starting pitchers for the contest.
