INDIANAPOLIS – The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced that left-handed pitcher Evan Sisk will begin a major league rehab assignment with the Indianapolis Indians as they continue their six-game road trip at the Louisville Bats on Thursday at 6:35 PM ET. Sisk is the fifth MLB rehabber assigned to Indy this season, following right-handed pitcher Jared Jones, catcher Joey Bart, right-handed pitcher Wilber Dotel and catcher/first baseman Endy Rodríguez.
Sisk, 29, was placed on the 15-day injured list by Pittsburgh on July 4 (retroactive to July 1) with left elbow inflammation. He began the season with Indianapolis and appeared in six games logging a 1.17 ERA (1er/7.2ip). Sisk was recalled by the Pirates on April 13 and was a reliable arm out of the bullpen, making 32 appearances with a 2.23 ERA (9er/36.1ip), 43 strikeouts, a 1.18 WHIP and .231 opponent average (30-for-130).
The Chester, S.C. native was traded to Pittsburgh from Kansas City on July 31, 2025, along with first baseman Callan Moss, in exchange for left-handed pitcher Bailey Falter. Sisk, who played 31 games with Omaha and seven games with Indianapolis in 2025, made his major league debut with the Royals on April 15, 2025, at New York (AL) and had five appearances with the club. Following the trade from Kansas City, he appeared in 14 games for Pittsburgh in 2025.
The southpaw had a breakout 2024 season with Omaha as he was named an International League Postseason All-Star, Royals Triple-A Pitcher of the Year and Omaha Pitcher of the Year; compiling a 6-2 record, 1.57 ERA (10er/57.1ip), 81 strikeouts, 1.03 WHIP and .166 opponent average (33-for-199) in 58 games.
Sisk is in his eighth professional season and was originally selected by St. Louis in the 16th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft from the College of Charleston (S.C.).
