INDIANAPOLIS – Thomas Harrington tossed 6.0 scoreless innings and a two-run second inning paved the path to victory as the Indianapolis Indians defeated the Louisville Bats, 3-1, on Wednesday night at Victory Field. Harrington has logged 11.2 consecutive scoreless innings in three appearances since the fifth frame on Aug. 7 vs. Iowa.
Duce Gourson drew a one-out walk in the second inning as Jack Brannigan and Cameron Barstad followed with back-to-back doubles for the Indians (29-18, 60-62), putting the club ahead early, 2-0. Joshua Palacios added a third run for Indy with an RBI single to score Brannigan in the fifth stanza. Louisville (16-31, 55-65) scored their lone run on a wild pitch in the seventh.
Harrington (W, 2-6) blanked the Bats over 6.0 innings. Brandon Eisert and Landon Tomkins each tossed 1.0 scoreless innings and Beau Burrows (S, 11) silenced Louisville for the final three outs. Jared Lyons (L, 1-5) allowed all three Indy runs in his 5.0 frames.
Indianapolis and Louisville continue this week’s six-game series on Thursday night at 6:35 PM ET. RHP Noah Davis (2-9, 5.08) is scheduled to start for the Indians with LHP Ben Wereski (1-1, 7.36) slated for the Bats.
