LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Thomas Harrington authored 5.0 scoreless innings before a lightning delay and Jhostynxon Garcia’s RBI single cut the deficit to one run in the eighth frame, but the Indianapolis Indians lost to the Gwinnett Stripers, 2-1, on Saturday night at Gwinnett Field. With the loss, the Indians were eliminated from postseason contention.
Through five and a half innings, Indianapolis (43-31, 74-75) remained in a 0-0 deadlock with Gwinnett (38-36, 76-72). Lightning in the area caused a delay for 1:01 before resumption. Thomas Harrington allowed two hits, no walks and struck out four in just 58 pitches prior to the stoppage of play. Davis Polo (W, 1-0) matched him in his Triple-A debut, firing 6.0 shutout innings.
The Stripers struck upon the restart with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, with Rowdy Tellez hitting a two-run ground-rule double off CD Pelham (L, 5-1) for a 2-0 advantage. Indy rallied in the eighth on some fortunate miscommunication on the Gwinnett infield. With two on and two outs, Garcia hit a pop up to shortstop Jim Jarvis and second baseman Brett Wisley ended in an unsure situation as the ball dropped down to the infield for a 2-1 score. Blake Burkhalter (S, 2) collected the final two outs of the game in the ninth inning.
The 2026 season for Indianapolis concludes from Gwinnett on Sunday at 1:05 PM ET. LHP Hunter Barco (4-8, 4.05) is set to take the mound for the Indians. The Stripers will feature a bullpen game with RHP Michael Grove (1-2, 3.51)
