INDIANAPOLIS – Mitch Jebb launched a pair of home runs with four RBI, Tyler Callihan logged a two-run homer and the Indianapolis Indians pitching staff shut out the Louisville Bats, 6-0, on Sunday afternoon at Victory Field. Indy split this week’s series at three games apiece with its ninth shutout on the campaign.
Callihan and Nick Cimillo each drew a walk in the second inning and then with two outs, Jebb launched his fifth homer of the season over the right field foul pole for a 3-0 Indians (31-20, 62-64) lead. Jebb struck again with a solo long ball in the seventh inning. Callihan tacked on in the eighth frame with a two-run blast, his sixth of the season.
Indians pitchers limited Louisville (18-33, 57-67) to just three hits in the game. Brandon Eisert, Wilber Dotel (W, 4-3), Cy Nielson, Derek Diamond, CD Pelham and Michael Darrell-Hicks combined to blank the Bats in a bullpen game. Kent Emanuel (L, 1-1) allowed four runs across 7.0 frames.
Indianapolis has an off day on Monday before beginning a six-game home series with the Columbus Clippers on Tuesday night at 6:35 PM ET. Starting pitchers for the contest have not yet been named.
