The Iowa Cubs (63-81) scored four runs in the first inning to lead them to a 6-4 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers (64-81) today at Werner Park.
Chas McCormick got Iowa on the board in the first as he drove in two runs with a double. Kevin Alcántara scored on a wild pitch and McCormick crossed the plate on a ground to make it 4-0.
In the fourth, BJ Murray singled home a run to extend Iowa’s lead to 6-0. Omaha scored a run in the bottom half to cut the lead to 6-1.
Omaha added three more in the sixth to make it 6-4, Iowa. Scoreless outings from Gavin Hollowell (1.1 IP) and Jaxon Wiggins (0.2 IP) closed out the game for the I-Cubs.
