I-CUBS DEFEAT ST. PAUL

The Iowa Cubs (17-24, 47-66) defeated the St. Paul Saints (24-17, 66-49) 7-6 on Wednesday evening at Principal Park.

St. Paul scored one run in the first inning and two more runs in the fourth inning to jump in front. Iowa was held scoreless until the sixth inning when Kevin Alcantara hit a two-run home run to make it a one run game. 

The I-Cubs broke the game open with a five-run seventh inning. Greg Jones hit an RBI single to tie the game before Jordan Nwogu hit a two-run single to give the Cubs the lead. B.J. Murray hit a home run for the second consecutive night with a two-run blast to give Iowa a 7-3 lead. 

St. Paul hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to make it a three run game. The Saints scored two runs in the ninth inning, and had the tying and go ahead runs on base with two outs, but Tyler Ferguson recorded the final out to preserve the Iowa victory.

The Iowa Cubs continue a six game series against the St. Paul Saints on Thursday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:38 PM.
