
MEMPHIS – The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp could not hold an early lead in Friday’s 4-2 loss to the Memphis Redbirds from AutoZone Park.
With the Jumbo Shrimp (62-60, 20-28) ahead 2-1 with one out in the fifth, Victor Scott II earned a walk against Bradley Blalock (3-9) before stealing second. Colton Ledbetter followed by tying the game with an RBI single. He scored from first two batters later on César Prieto’s go-ahead double, giving the Redbirds (68-56, 21-28) a 3-2 lead.
Memphis added to its lead in the seventh. Scott II singled to begin the inning before going to second on a passed ball. After a strikeout, Ramon Urías notched an RBI single to make it 4-2.
Jacksonville got on the board to take the game’s initial lead back in the second. Jonathon Long earned a walk to start the inning against Brandt Thompson (3-1). He advanced to second on a Brayden Taylor base hit before scoring on Bennett Hostetler’s RBI single.
Deyvison De Los Santos doubled with one out in the third. Matthew Etzel then lashed an RBI single for a 2-0 advantage.
The Redbirds got on the board in the bottom of the third. Brody Moore led off with a double. He scored on a steal of third coupled with an error to halve the lead at 2-1.
Jacksonville seeks a series win in Saturday’s 7:35 p.m. ET contest. RHP Karson Milbrandt (0-5, 7.65 ERA) starts for the Jumbo Shrimp against Redbirds LHP Cooper Hjerpe (0-0, 0.79 ERA). Coverage begins at 7:20 p.m. ET on ESPN 690AM and www.ESPN690.com.
