September 16th, 2026

JUPITER, FL – As part of an announcement through Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, and the Arizona Fall League, it was announced that eight members of the Miami Marlins organization, including five current or former Jupiter Hammerheads, will compete for the Glendale Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League. The Marlins will send five pitchers including Samuel Carpio, Bryan Mendoza, Emmett Olson, Tristan Stevens, and Alex Williams. Miami will also send three position players including infielder Carter Johnson and outfielders Max Williams (Marlins #27 prospect on MLB Pipeline) and Dillon Lewis (Marlins #11 prospect on MLB Pipeline).

Carpio has pitched for the Jupiter Hammerheads the last two seasons. Across a combined 75 appearances, the right-hander has a 7-4 record with 157 strikeouts across 112 1/3 innings pitched. Carpio has also tallied nine saves and seven holds between 2025 and 2026. Carpio was signed as an international free agent by the Marlins on July 13, 2023 out of the Dominican Republic.

Olson has spent most of 2025 and 2026 recovering from Tommy John surgery. The southpaw made two rehab appearances for the Hammerheads this year and threw a combined five innings and allowed three runs, two earned runs, while striking out seven batters. Olson ended with four starts for Class-A Advanced Beloit before making his Double-A Pensacola debut on September 12. Back in 2024 in his first stint with Jupiter, Olson made three starts and tossed 16 scoreless innings before earning a promotion. The 24-year-old was drafted by the Marlins in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft out of the University of Nebraska.

Like Olson, Stevens spent most of the last two seasons recovering from surgery. The right-hander began his rehab assignment with Jupiter on August 7 and went on to allow just one run in 4 1/3 innings across three appearances before returning to Double-A Pensacola. The 28-year-old had previously pitched for Jupiter in the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Stevens was signed by the Marlins organization as a nondrafted free agent on July 23, 2022 out of the University of Texas.

Johnson began his professional career with the Hammerheads during the 2024 season after the draft. The Alabama native combined to play 197 games for Jupiter and hit 12 home runs, 94 RBIs, 35 doubles, and scored 101 runs across three different seasons before being promoted to Class-A Advanced Beloit.. Johnson was drafted by Miami in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Oxford High School in Oxford, Alabama.

Max Williams began the season on the 60-day injured list as he recovered from shoulder surgery in the offseason. After being activated by Jupiter on July 9, Williams sped through the Marlins’ farm system. In 16 games for the Hammerheads, the lefty designated hitter hit two home runs, 10 RBIs, five doubles, and scored 14 runs prior to promotion. In 23 games for Class-A Advanced Beloit, Williams hit seven home runs and 14 RBIs before immediately moving up to Double-A Pensacola where he is currently on the playoff roster. Williams was drafted by the Marlins in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft out of Florida State.

Other selections from the Miami farm system to the AFL include left-handed pitcher Brayan Mendoza, right-handed pitcher Alex Williams, and outfielder Dillon Lewis. After being acquired in a trade from the Texas Rangers in December 2024, Mendoza has spent the last two seasons with Beloit. In 2026, the southpaw went 4-7 with a 5.89 ERA in 30 appearances in which 12 of those were starts. Williams spent all of the 2026 season in Double-A Pensacola where the former 11th round pick in 2022 went 4-8 with a 5.78 ERA in 20 appearances and 18 starts for the Blue Wahoos. Lewis, after being acquired by the Marlins as part of the Ryan Weathers trade with the New York Yankees, enjoyed a breakout campaign for Double-A Pensacola before spending some time on the seven-day injured list. In 89 regular season games for the Blue Wahoos, the 23-year-old hit 18 home runs and 48 RBIs along with 12 doubles and 20 stolen bases.
