APPLETON, Wisc. – Logan Sauve led off the third inning with a double off rehabbing Milwaukee Brewers southpaw Kyle Harrison, supplying the Lansing Lugnuts’ (12-20, 41-55) only hit in a 10-0 loss to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (17-15, 51-43) on Thursday night at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
The Timber Rattlers hit six home runs, five off starting pitcher Jorge Marcheco, to support the combined shutout efforts of Harrison (5 2/3 IP), Jason Woodward (1/3), Bjorn Johnson (1 IP), Yerlin Rodriguez (1 IP) and José Meneses (1 IP).
Unusually, those were the only base hits allowed by Marcheco in 4 2/3 innings: an Eric Bitonti solo home run in the first inning, Tayden Hall solo homer in the second, Braylon Payne solo homer in the third, and back-to-back solo shots from Payne and Daniel Dickinson in the fifth.
Luiyin Alastre added a two-run homer off Ryan Brown in the sixth inning, marking the second time this season that Lansing has allowed six home runs in a game. The first: a 23-15 loss on June 13 vs. Cedar Rapids.
Tzu-Chen Sha kept the ball in the park but allowed two runs on two hits and a walk in the seventh. Darlin Pinales struck out a pair in a hitless, scoreless eighth.
Jake Reinisch drew a pair of walks in the losing cause.
Southpaw Tucker Novotny starts the fourth game of the six-game series, opposing Jayden Dubanewicz at 6:40 p.m. local / 7:40 p.m. Eastern on Friday.
