Allentown, Pennsylvania (August 3, 2026) – The International League has announced that Lehigh Valley IronPigs pitcher Alan Rangel has been named Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 27 thru August 2.
Starting on August 1 against the Buffalo Bisons, Rangel turned in a sterling performance, allowing just an unearned run over 6.1 innings on two hits and two walks, striking out six. From the top of the third thru the start of the seventh Rangel retired 10 straight hitters.
Rangel leads the ‘Pigs pitching staff in numerous categories, topping the team with 81 innings pitched and 83 strikeouts. Rangel has a 3-5 record and 4.22 ERA this season.
Rangel is the first ‘Pig to garner a weekly league award this season. He is the first Pitcher of the Week since Mick Abel was tabbed for his performance July 8 thru 13, 2025. This is Rangel’s second ever weekly award, having been named Southern League Pitcher of the Week with the Mississippi Braves for the week of September 3, 2023.
