Moore swats pair of homers to power ‘Pigs to win

August 29th, 2026

Allentown, Pennsylvania (August 28, 2026) – Robert Moore belted a duo of long balls, including the game-winning two-run shot in the ninth inning, to propel the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (27-25, 62-65) to a 6-4 walk-off victory over the Syracuse Mets (27-26, 65-63) on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park.

The Mets got a solo homer from Jose Ramos in the third to start the scoring before Moore blasted his first two-run homer of the game in the last of the third to jump the ‘Pigs in front.

MJ Melendez doubled home a run in the fourth to tie the game, but the ‘Pigs took the lead back in the fifth on a Rafael Marchan sacrifice fly.

Billy Amick put the Mets on top with a two-run single in the sixth, but again the ‘Pigs had an answer as Colby Thomas doubled home a run to tie the game again.

The game stayed knotted at 4-4 until the ninth. Dylan Moore walked to start the frame and after a strikeout, Robert Moore came to the plate again. He uncorked his second homer of the game, winning it 6-4 for the ‘Pigs. It’s the second walk-off homer of the year for the ‘Pigs (Caleb Ricketts, 4/21 vs. Durham) and second time that the walk-off homer has been the player’s second homer of the game.

Grant Holman (W, 3-0) got the win for the ‘Pigs after he pitched a scoreless ninth to set the stage for Moore while Ben Simon (L, 3-4) took the loss for the Mets after allowing the walk-off winner.

The IronPigs and Mets continue their series on Saturday, August 28th with a doubleheader with first pitch slated for 4:35 p.m. The ‘Pigs hand the ball to Alan Rangel in game one before Brian Keller goes in game two while the Mets line up Jack Weisenburger and Jonah Tong.
