Allentown, Pennsylvania (August 15, 2026) – A blazing scramble for Colby Thomas as he scored from first base on a groundball in the eighth inning gave the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (22-22, 57-62) the go a-head run in a 5-4 victory over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (25-17, 62-54) on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Scranton was off and running early, plating one in the second on a Tyler Hardman RBI single and two in the third on a J.C. Escarra two-run double to take a 3-0 lead.

RBI singles for Tommy Pham and Keaton Anthony got the ‘Pigs back to a one-run deficit in the last of the third.

Max Schuemann belted a solo homer in the fifth to put SWB back up by two, but Kameron Misner blooped an RBI single in the bottom half to make it a one-run game again.

Payton Henry started the seventh with a solo homer, tying the game up for the ‘Pigs.

In the eighth, Carter Kieboom legged out an infield single to begin the frame and was pinch-run for by Thomas. Otto Kemp then grounded out to third with Thomas on the run on the pitch. Thomas never broke stride around second and made it to third with the throw back across the diamond skipping by third and allowing Thomas to score the go-ahead run.

After throwing a clean eighth, Grant Holman (W, 2-0) locked it down with a scoreless ninth, stranding the tying run at second base.

Justin Topa (L, 0-1) took the loss for SWB, allowing the unearned run in the eighth.

The ‘Pigs and RailRiders wrap up their series on Sunday, August 16th with first pitch set for 1:15 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park. The ‘Pigs starter is Casey Lawrence while Alexander Cornielle goes for SWB.
