Allentown, Pennsylvania (August 26, 2026) – Gabriel Rincones Jr. homered as part of a three-hit game, but that ended up being the only run the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (26-25, 61-65) mustered in an 11-1 loss to the Syracuse Mets (27-25, 65-62) on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park.
Syracuse was off and running early with RBI singles from Mark Vientos and MJ Melendez in the first inning. Ronny Mauricio doubled home a run in the third before a two-run homer for Shawn Ross in the fourth made it 5-0.
Rincones hit his solo homer in the last of the fourth to get the ‘Pigs on the board, but solo homers for Vientos and Amick in the top of the fifth bounced ‘Pigs starter Drake Fellows (L, 5-3).
Amick smashed a two-run shot in the eighth with Ross adding an RBI double before a run scored on an error in the ninth for the Mets, making it 11-1.
Tobias Myers (W, 2-1) got the win for the Mets in relief, working 2.1 innings, the longest outing for any Mets pitcher on the day.
The IronPigs and Mets continue their series on Thursday, August 27th with first pitch slated for 6:45 p.m. The ‘Pigs hand the ball to Casey Lawrence while the Mets starter is Jack Wenninger.
