Syracuse, New York (September 17, 2026) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (32-39, 67-79) had the bats working early, but the Syracuse Mets (41-30, 79-67) outslugged them in a 9-8 final Thursday night at NBT Bank Stadium.
In a barnburner from the get-go, the ‘Pigs plated opened the scoring with a Kameron Misner two-run homer in the first before the Mets answered with three in the bottom half thanks to a Vidal Brujan RBI base hit and Eric Wagaman two-run double.
Misner drove in two more with a base hit in the second inning to put the ‘Pigs back in front before scoring on a Carter Kieboom base knock to put the ‘Pigs up by two.
Jefferson Rojas tallied an RBI double before a two-run error on a Ronny Mauricio hot shot put the Mets back in front in the bottom of the frame. A Brujan sacrifice fly gave the Mets a two-run cushion.
That cushion was eviscerated immediately when Gabriel Rincones Jr. smashed a two-run homer in the top of the third to bring the ‘Pigs back level. Again though, the Mets answered back as a Rojas solo shot put them back ahead by a run.
Nick Biddison tied the game for the ‘Pigs in the fourth with an RBI single, but a Rojas sacrifice fly in the fifth gave the Mets the lead for good.
Brian Metoyer (W, 5-1) got the win for Syracuse on the strength of two scoreless innings, while Tucker Davidson (L, 6-6) took the loss for the ‘Pigs after allowing two runs in 4.1 innings of relief. Zach Franklin (S, 7) got the final four outs for the Mets without allowing a run to earn the save.
The ‘Pigs and Mets continue their series on Friday, September 18th with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. at NBT Bank Stadium. Drake Fellows gets the ball for the ‘Pigs against Justin Hagenman for Syracuse.
