Allentown, Pennsylvania (September 13, 2026) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (32-36, 67-76) stormed back from a five-run deficit only to see the Worcester Red Sox (37-30, 73-65) turn the tables late in an 8-7 loss on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park.
The WooSox blasted off early for the lead, getting a two-run homer from Tsung-Che Cheng in the second before Vinn Capra and Franklin Arias hit back-to-back solo bombs in the third for a 4-0 lead. They tacked on another in the fourth on a Max Ferguson RBI single.
The ‘Pigs started their comeback trail with a Keaton Anthony solo homer in the fourth and an RBI fielder’s choice for Nick Biddison in the fifth.
Carter Kieboom singled home a run with two outs in the sixth, kicking off a manic rally that saw the ‘Pigs take the lead. After a hit-by-pitch followed, Colby Thomas doubled home a pair to tie the game at 5-5 before Biddison singled him home for the lead.
Alan Castro swatted a solo homer for the WooSox to tie things in the top of the seventh, but Anthony answered with an RBI double to put the ‘Pigs back ahead.
Castro had the last laugh as he drilled a two-run homer in the ninth, putting the WooSox ahead 8-7 for good.
Sam McWilliams (W, 3-2) retired all six he faced to end the game, getting the win for the WooSox, while Kirby Snead (L, 6-3) suffered the loss for the ‘Pigs, allowing Castro’s go-ahead homer.
Following an off-day on Monday, the IronPigs hit the road for the final six-game of the year as they venture to take on the Syracuse Mets. First pitch on Tuesday, September 15th, from NBT Bank Stadium is slated for 6:35 p.m.
