Moosic, Pennsylvania (September 5, 2026) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (29-32, 64-72) picked themselves up off the deck and rallied for three runs in the ninth inning to stun the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (35-25, 72-62) in an 8-6 victory on Saturday night at PNC Field.
The win is the 12th of the year for the ‘Pigs against SWB ensuring they will at least split the season series and since the ‘Pigs are the current holders of the IronRail, they will retain the trophy since SWB can no longer win the season series outright.
The ‘Pigs scored in the first inning for a fourth straight game as Kameron Misner opened the scoring with an RBI single before Carter Kieboom scampered home on a wild pitch.
Tyler Hardman swatted a three-run homer in the second to put SWB on top, but a Carter Kieboom sacrifice fly tied the game for the ‘Pigs in the third.
Kieboom scored on a two-out error in the sixth to put the ‘Pigs back on top, but RBI singles for Anthony Volpe and Oswaldo Cabrera in the seventh sent SWB back into the lead.
With two outs and two strikes in the eighth, Misner blasted a solo homer to re-tie the game for the ‘Pigs, only to see Kenedy Corona execute a perfect safety squeeze in the bottom half with Duke Ellis scoring the go-ahead run for SWB.
Down to their final three outs, Gabriel Rincones Jr. laced a pinch-hit doubled to start the ninth and Robert Moore followed with another double to score him, tying the game, with an error on the play putting Moore at third. Christian Cairo then singled Moore home to put the ‘Pigs ahead for good. After a sacrifice bunt moved Cairo into scoring position, Kieboom singled through the left side to score Cairo for insurance.
Kirby Snead (S, 2) came on to close it down in the bottom half and worked around a leadoff walk by striking out the next hitter before inducing a game-ending double play.
Max Lazar (W, 5-1) got the win for the ‘Pigs, allowing a run in 1.1 innings of relief work while Bradley Hanner (L, 6-3) took the loss for SWB allowing all three runs in the ninth.
The ‘Pigs and RailRiders wrap up their series on Sunday, September 6th with first pitch set for 1:35 p.m. at PNC Field. Drake Fellows gets the ball for the ‘Pigs against Adam Kloffenstein for SWB.
