
Moosic, Pennsylvania (September 1, 2026) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (28-29, 63-69) split a quasi-doubleheader with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (32-24, 69-61), taking the resumption of a previously suspended game 4-2 before falling 16-0 in the regularly scheduled contest on Tuesday evening at PNC Field.
Game One
In the resumption of the suspended game from August 16th at Coca-Cola Park, play resumed at the start of the top of the second in a scoreless game. SWB broke the deadlock in the fourth inning when JC Escarra drove in a run with a groundout and Yanquiel Fernandez followed with an RBI double.
Down 2-0 heading into the last of the eighth, the ‘Pigs rallied. RBI singles from Steward Berroa and Kameron Misner tied the game before Otto Kemp ripped the go-ahead RBI single, with an error on the play allowing another run to score.
Tanner Banks (W, 1-1) retired the side in order in the ninth to seal the win, giving him two perfect innings of relief.
Adam Kloffenstein (L, 2-10) took the loss for SWB, allowing four runs (three earned) in 6.2 innings.
Game Two
The back half of the twin bill was all SWB as they opened the scoring in the first with a three spot. Anthony Volpe swatted a solo homer while Escarra added an RBI single and Oswaldo Cabrera brought in a run with a groundout.
A Marco Luciano sacrifice fly in the third made it 4-0 before two-run homers from Kenedy Corona in the fourth and Escarra in the fifth made it 8-0. SWB scratched out eight two-out runs in the fifth, punctuated by a Corona grand slam to make it 16-0.
Zach Messinger (W, 8-1) got the win for SWB with two scoreless innings of relief while Ryan Cusick (L, 1-7) took the loss for the ‘Pigs, allowing the three runs in the first.
The ‘Pigs and RailRiders continue their series on Wednesday, September 2nd with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. at PNC Field. Casey Lawrence gets the ball for the ‘Pigs against Alexander Cornielle for SWB.
