Allentown, Pennsylvania (August 29, 2026) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (27-27, 62-67) were swept in their doubleheader by finals of 6-0 and 8-7 by the Syracuse Mets (29-26, 67-63) on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Game One

After a scoreless first two frames, the Mets slugged their way to the lead in the third. Zack Short and D’Andre Smith blasted back-to-back solo homers to start the scoring before MJ Melendez capped the frame with a two-run shot.

Smith added another RBI on a fielder’s choice in the fourth while Mark Vientos joined the home run party with a solo shot in the seventh to make it 6-0.

Jonah Tong (W, 5-6) was dominant for the Mets on the mound, retiring the first 12 he faced and carried a no-hitter into the seventh, only conceding a double to Kameron Misner with two outs in the final inning.

Alan Rangel (L, 3-7) took the loss for the ‘Pigs, allowing five runs over frames.

Game Two

It was the ‘Pigs who started out hot in game two as after nearly getting no-hit the bats came out cooking. After loading the bases with one out, Otto Kemp scampered home a passed ball to start the scoring before Colby Thomas doubled home two more. Payton Henry ended the rally with an RBI single to make it a four-run frame.

The Mets answered right back though, scoring five two-out runs in the second. D’Andre Smith singled home one and Zack Short followed with a two-run double before a Nick Morabito two-run homer jumped the Mets in front. Smith added another RBI single in the third to stretch the Syracuse lead to 6-4.

Kameron Misner tied things for the ‘Pigs with a two-run single in the fourth while Otto Kemp sprinted home on a wild pitch to grab the lead back.

An RBI groundout for Ronny Mauricio tied the game for ‘Cuse in the sixth before a Billy Amick solo homer in the seventh gave the Mets the lead for good.

Brian Metoyer (W, 3-1) got the final five outs for the Mets, striking out a pair to earn the win, while Lou Trivino III (L, 3-1) took the loss for the ‘Pigs, allowing Amick’s go-ahead homer in the seventh.

The IronPigs and Mets wrap up their series on Sunday, August 29th with first pitch slated for 1:15 p.m. The ‘Pigs hand the ball to Chuck King while the Mets starter is TBD.
