Moosic, Pennsylvania (September 3, 2026) – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (28-31, 63-71) were walked-off on by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (34-24, 71-61) in a 4-3 defeat on Thursday night at PNC Field.
The ‘Pigs were off and running early as Keaton Anthony singled home Otto Kemp in the first, but a solo homer for Anthony Volpe tied things for SWB in the third.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the fifth, Kemp untied the game with a two-run base hit, putting the ‘Pigs back on top.
SWB chipped away at the deficit, getting a base hit by Volpe in the sixth, which coupled with an error on the play allowed Kenedy Corona to score, before a Tyler Hardman sacrifice fly in the sixth tied the game at 3-3.
The ‘Pigs left a runner in scoring position to end the eighth and ninth innings, giving SWB the chance to walk it off in the bottom of the ninth. Max Schuemann singled with one away in the ninth before pinch runner Duke Ellis took his place at first and promptly swiped second. Oswaldo Cabrera then singled him home to win the game for the RailRiders, 4-3.
Justin Topa (W, 1-3) earned the win for SWB with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief, while Kirby Snead (L, 5-2) took the loss for the ‘Pigs, allowing the winning run in the ninth after working a perfect eighth.
The ‘Pigs and RailRiders continue their series on Friday, September 4th with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. at PNC Field. Brian Keller gets the ball for the ‘Pigs against Kyle Carr for SWB.
