Syracuse, New York (September 18, 2026) – Raider Tello had a Triple-A debut to remember, driving in two and hitting his first homer, but the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (32-40, 67-80) fell to the Syracuse Mets (41-30, 79-67) 6-2 on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium.
Stepping to the plate in a scoreless game in the fourth with two runners on, Tello bounced a single into centerfield, scoring Otto Kemp for the game’s first run on Tello’s first Triple-A hit and RBI.
The Mets evened the score straight away in the last of the fourth on a Jose Ramos RBI single before taking the lead on a Vidal Brujan solo homer in the fifth.
A D’Andre Smith two-run single and Brujan RBI groundout extended the Mets lead to 5-1 in the sixth, but Tello smashed his first Triple-A homer in the seventh, clawing one back for the ‘Pigs.
The Mets got an insurance run thanks to a MJ Melendez RBI double in the eighth as sealed the 6-2 win.
Ben Simon (W, 5-4) got his second win of the series in relief, tossing two scoreless frames for the Mets, while Drake Fellows (L, 6-5) took the loss for the ‘Pigs, allowing just two runs over five innings.
