
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game road trip at the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A, Miami Marlins) with a 8-7 victory on Saturday night at Vystar Ballpark.
Designated hitter Nolan Gorman drilled a pair of homers in the victory. The left-handed slugger blasted a solo homer in each the second and fifth inning to help set the Memphis tone offensively. Second baseman César Prieto followed suit with a solo home run of his own in the fifth. Gorman and Prieto provided the lone multi-hit efforts for the Redbirds in the win.
Starting pitcher Pete Hansen (2-4) allowed two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out four in 5.2 innings pitched to earn his second Triple-A victory of the season. Hancel Rincón (S, 1) worked a scoreless 1.2 innings with three strikeouts to earn his first career Triple-A save.
The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park on Tuesday, August 4 to begin a six-game homestand against the Nashville Sounds (Triple-A, Milwaukee Brewers) with first pitch scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CDT.
