JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Memphis Redbirds continued a six-game road trip at the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A, Miami Marlins) with a 9-5 loss on Friday night at Vystar Ballpark.
Memphis hit three home runs in the loss. Catcher Leo Bernall opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a two-run shot, his 14th home run of the season. Center fielder Victor Scott II hit his second home run in the top of the third inning. Thomas Saggese hit his fifth home run in his last seven games with a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning. Scott II, Bernal and right fielder Colton Ledbetter each posted a multi-hit effort in Friday night’s loss.
Starting pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje allowed three runs on three hits, walked six and struck out five in 5.0 innings pitched, the longest of his Triple-A career. Brycen Mautz (0-5) allowed three runs on one hit, walked one, struck out one and allowed a three-run homer.
The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park on Tuesday, August 4 to begin a six-game homestand against the Nashville Sounds (Triple-A, Milwaukee Brewers) with first pitch scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CDT.
