BILOXI, MS (July 31, 2026) – The Montgomery Biscuits mounted a furious six-run rally in the eighth inning to pull within two runs, but the Biloxi Shuckers answered immediately with a grand slam to pull away for a 14-8 victory on Friday night at Keesler Federal Park.
Montgomery (50-49) grabbed an early lead in the first inning when Austin Overn scored on Émilien Pitre's RBI single to center field, making it 1-0.
Biloxi (54-42) answered in the second as Andrew Fischer tied the game with a solo home run to right.
The Shuckers added two more runs in the third when Fischer lined a two-run single to right, scoring Jesús Made and Blake Burke for a 3-1 advantage.
Biloxi continued to build their lead, using a Mike Boeve double to bring home Josh Adamczewski in the fourth before Burke lined an RBI double. Adamczewski followed with an RBI single in the fifth to make it 6-1.
Montgomery trimmed the deficit in the sixth when Xavier Isaac scored on Mac Horvath's RBI double to left but Biloxi responded with four runs in the bottom half. Jesús Made launched a three-run home run before Burke added a solo homer to stretch the lead to 10-2.
The Biscuits mounted a dramatic comeback in the eighth. Horvath opened the inning with a two-run home run before Gregory Barrios singled home Cooper Kinney. Overn then blasted a three-run homer to center, capping a six-run inning and cutting the deficit to 10-8.
Biloxi answered immediately in the bottom of the eighth. After TJ Fondtain walked the bases loaded and exited for Tommy McCollum, Made crushed his second home run of the night, a grand slam to right-center, restoring the Shuckers' cushion and sealing the 14-8 final.
Montgomery finished with 10 hits in the loss. Horvath went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBI, while Overn finished 2-for-6 with a three-run homer and two runs scored. Pitre collected two hits and an RBI, and Barrios added two hits and an RBI. Isaac reached base four times with a hit and three walks.
Gary Gill Hill (4-3) took the loss after allowing six runs on 10 hits over 5.0 innings while striking out three. Roel Garcia III surrendered four runs over two innings, and Fondtain was charged with three runs without recording an out in the eighth before McCollum finished the game.
Biloxi starter Braylon Owens allowed one run over 4.0 innings before Anthony Flores (5-1) earned the win with three innings of one-run relief. Garrett Hodges was charged with six runs while recording one out in the eighth, and Edwin Jimenez worked the final 1.2 scoreless innings to earn his second save.
