Biscuits Use Early Offense to Cruise Past Lookouts, 15-3

Will Simpson and Cooper Kinney combine for 7 hits and 9 RBI in win

MONTGOMERY, AL (August 16, 2026) – The Montgomery Biscuits scored 13 runs over the first four innings and cruised to a 15-3 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts on Sunday afternoon at DABOS Park.

Chattanooga struck first in the top of the first when Ruben Ibarra grounded out to third, allowing Carlos Sanchez to score and giving the Lookouts a 1-0 lead.

Montgomery answered with five runs in the bottom half. Will Simpson singled home Caden Bodine and Xavier Isaac to put the Biscuits ahead, and Cooper Kinney followed with a three-run homer to left field, scoring Mac Horvath and Simpson for a 5-1 advantage.

The Biscuits broke the game open with six more runs in the second. Gregory Barrios led off the inning with his third homer of the season, and Simpson followed with a two-run double to score Bodine and Isaac. Kinney singled home Simpson, Connor Hujsak singled home Tatem Levins, and J.T. Arruda capped the inning with a sacrifice fly to score Kinney, extending Montgomery's lead to 11-1.

Montgomery added two more runs in the fourth on consecutive wild pitches from Chattanooga reliever Brody Jessee, allowing Simpson and Levins to score.

The Lookouts got a run back in the fifth when Kien Vu hit a solo homer, but Montgomery answered with two runs in the seventh. Isaac singled home Arruda before Simpson followed with an RBI single to score Horvath and make it 15-3.

TJ Nichols earned the win, allowing three runs on five hits over 5.0 innings while striking out two. T.J. Fondtain worked 2.0 scoreless innings with two strikeouts, and Junior William tossed 2.0 scoreless innings while striking out three.

Chattanooga starter Javi Rivera took the loss after surrendering 11 runs on seven hits over 1.1 innings.

Simpson led a 16-hit Montgomery attack, going 4-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and five RBI. Kinney went 3-for-5 with a homer, four RBI and two runs scored, while Barrios went 2-for-4 with his third homer and an RBI. Levins added two hits and scored twice.
