Columbus Homers Four Times to Sink Montgomery, 6-1

Gregory Barrios notches two of Biscuits’ three hits in 6-1 loss

COLUMBUS, GA (August 20, 2026) – The Montgomery Biscuits managed just three hits as the Columbus Clingstones used four home runs to claim a 6-1 victory on Thursday night at Synovus Park.

Montgomery struck first in the opening inning. Gregory Barrios doubled and stole third before scoring on a wild pitch during Cooper Kinney's walk, giving the Biscuits an early 1-0 lead.

Columbus pulled even in the fourth when Jordan Groshans launched a two-out solo homer to right-center. Later in the inning, Archer Brookman broke the game open with a three-run homer, scoring Carson Taylor and Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. to put the Clingstones ahead 4-1.

Alex Lodise added a solo homer in the fifth, extending the lead to 5-1. Groshans capped the scoring with his second solo shot of the night in the eighth.

Garrett Edwards (4-10) took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits over 4.2 innings with one walk and two strikeouts. Hayden Snelsire followed with 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out three while Luis Guerrero delivered a scoreless, three strikeout eighth inning.

Barrios accounted for two of Montgomery's three hits, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and two stolen bases. Will Simpson added the other hit with a single.

Columbus starter Garrett Baumann earned the win after holding the Biscuits to one run over 7.0 innings, striking out seven. The Columbus bullpen combined for two hitless innings to finish the game.
