Seven-Run First Inning Sinks Biscuits in Series Finale at Columbus

Hujsak homers for first Double-A blast as Montgomery falls 7-2

COLUMBUS, GA (August 23, 2026) – The Montgomery Biscuits dropped the series finale to the Columbus Clingstones, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon at Synovus Park.

Columbus erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the first inning against Montgomery starter Marcus Johnson. Eric Hartman opened the scoring with a two-run homer, his second home run in as many games, before Adam Zebrowski added a solo shot. Archer Brookman capped the inning with a three-run homer to right-center field, and Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. later stole home to give Columbus a 7-0 lead.

The Biscuits broke through in the fifth inning when Caden Bodine singled to right field, scoring Mac Horvath to cut the deficit to 7-1.

Connor Hujsak added Montgomery's other run in the sixth, launching his first Double-A home run on a solo shot to center field.

Bodine led the Biscuits offensively, finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI. Hujsak went 2-for-4 with his first Double-A homer and RBI, while Cooper Kinney and Gregory Barrios added hits.

After the rough first inning, Montgomery's bullpen kept Columbus off the board the rest of the way. K.C. Hunt worked 4.1 scoreless innings without allowing a hit, walking four and striking out one. Justin Yeager followed with two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two, while Luis Guerrero struck out two in a perfect eighth.
