Will Simpson sets Montgomery’s single season home run record with 25th homer

MONTGOMERY, AL (August 30, 2026) – The Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon at DABOS Park.

The Biscuits struck first in the opening inning when Will Simpson launched a two-run home run to left-center field, scoring Mac Horvath and giving Montgomery an early 2-0 lead.

Pensacola answered in the third. Adrian Santana singled home Colby Shade before Brandon Compton followed with an RBI single to score Santana, tying the game at 2-2.

Montgomery regained the lead in the bottom of the third. Justyn-Henry Malloy drew a bases-loaded walk to score Bryan Broecker, putting the Biscuits ahead 3-2. Connor Hujsak followed with a two-run double to center field, scoring J.T. Arruda and Theo Gillen to extend the lead to 5-2.

The Biscuits added two more runs in the fourth. Arruda launched his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field that scored Broecker and pushed Montgomery's advantage to 7-2.

Simpson finished 1-for-4 with his 25th home run of the season and two RBI. Arruda went 2-for-4 with his first homer and two RBI, while Hujsak added a double and two RBI. Broecker scored twice, and Horvath and Gillen each recorded a hit.

Montgomery's pitching staff held Pensacola scoreless over the final six innings. Chris Clark allowed two runs over 3.0 innings while striking out three, before Hayden Snelsire earned the win with 2.0 scoreless innings. Tommy McCollum and Junior William each added 2.0 scoreless innings to finish the victory.
