MADISON, AL (September 2, 2026) – The Montgomery Biscuits defeated the Rocket City Trash Pandas, 9-3, on Wednesday night at Toyota Field.
Montgomery struck first in the second inning when Justyn-Henry Malloy launched his first home run with the Biscuits, a two-run shot to center field that scored J.T. Arruda and gave the Biscuits a 2-0 lead.
Rocket City answered with two runs in the bottom of the second. Arjun Nimmala drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Tucker Flint before Nick Rodriguez walked with the bases loaded to score Eddie Micheletti Jr., tying the game at 2-2.
The Biscuits regained the lead in the fourth when Gregory Barrios reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Theo Gillen, putting Montgomery ahead 3-2.
Rocket City tied the game in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly by Juan Flores that scored Micheletti Jr.
Montgomery broke the game open in the fifth. Cooper Kinney launched his ninth home run of the season, a two-run shot to right field that scored Mac Horvath, before Will Simpson singled home Theo Gillen to extend the Biscuits' lead to 6-3.
Cooper Kinney added his second home run of the night in the seventh, launching a solo shot to right-center field to push Montgomery ahead 7-3.
The Biscuits added two more runs in the ninth. Gillen reached on a throwing error that allowed Horvath to score before Malloy drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home Gillen, giving Montgomery a 9-3 advantage.
Montgomery finished with 12 hits, led by Cooper Kinney, who went 2-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored and three RBI. Theo Gillen added two hits, including his 10th double of the season, and scored three runs, while J.T. Arruda went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks. Mac Horvath went 2-for-4 and stole his 48th base of the season. Justyn-Henry Malloy finished 1-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a walk. Will Simpson added a hit and an RBI while stealing his 21st base.
Jackson Baumeister allowed two runs on no hits over 1.2 innings, walking five and striking out three. Jonny Cuevas earned the win after working 3.1 innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out five. Junior William followed with 2.0 scoreless innings and four strikeouts, while Hayden Snelsire worked 2.p scoreless innings to finish the game.
