MONTGOMERY, AL (September 10, 2026) – The Montgomery Biscuits fell to the Columbus Clingstones, 4-1, Thursday night at DABOS Park, dropping to 69-66 on the season.
Columbus struck first in the top of the first. Eric Hartman scored from third when Owen Carey grounded into a force out.
The Clingstones added to their lead in the third when Dalton McIntyre lined a single to center, scoring Ambioris Tavarez and making it 2-0.
Montgomery cut the deficit in half in the fifth. Connor Hujsak scored from third on an RBI single from Ryan Spikes, who delivered the Biscuits' lone run of the night.
Columbus answered in the seventh. John Gil lined a two-run single to left, scoring Luke Waddell and McIntyre to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Biscuits were held scoreless over the final four innings by Columbus starter Drue Hackenberg and reliever Tyler LaPorte. Hackenberg earned the win after allowing one run on four hits over 8.0 innings while striking out nine. LaPorte worked a scoreless ninth to earn the save, his 10th of the year.
Montgomery starter TJ Nichols took the loss, allowing two runs on three hits over 4.0 innings with five strikeouts. Roel Garcia III worked two scoreless innings, while Luis Guerrero surrendered two runs in the seventh before Andrew Lindsey twirled 2.0 scoreless frames with four strikeouts.
Spikes finished 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Mac Horvath, Theo Gillen, Hujsak and Gregory Barrios each collected a hit. Horvath also stole his 50th base of the season, joining Homer Bush Jr. and Chandler Simpson as the only Biscuits to reach the half century mark in a single season.
