
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (July 30, 2026). – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (12-21, 39-58) dropped game three of the Sonic Highway 17 showdown to the Charleston RiverDogs (19-14, 56-43) at Pelicans Ballpark on Thursday night. The Pelicans now trail in the weeklong series 2-1.
Charleston led the game 5-3 in the top of the eighth and added a couple more runs courtesy of a grand slam by Jack Lines (1) to make the score 9-3.
The Pelicans attempted to mount a comeback in the bottom of the eighth. Silva and Alcantara walked. Then Corey Nunez lined an RBI single to cut the deficit to 9-4. In the next at-bat, Jan Reyes roped a two-run triple to trim the defcit to 9-6.
Pelicans Right-hander Braylon Myers was stellar tossing five shutout innings while tallying a career-high eight strikeouts.
Trailing the Pelicans 3-0 entering the top of the seventh, the RiverDogs offense sparked a rally. Brady Marget singled and later moved to second on a walk drawn by Brody Donay. After a wild pitch moved both runners up a base, Dean Moss looped a single to make the score 3-1. A batter later, Slater de Brun grounded into a forceout but an errant throw to first allowed Donay to touch home which brought the score to 3-2. After Andreimi Antunez drew a walk, Cooper Flemming (9) launched a go-ahead three-run homer which gave the Dogs’ a 5-3 lead.
Myrtle Beach started the scoring in the bottom of the second with a solo home run from Jose Silva (2) to give the Birds a 1-0 advantage.
RHP Julio Valdez (1-0, 3.00) received the win in his first appearance for the Pelicans. LHP Blake Morgan (4-2, 3.28) was tagged with the loss for the RiverDogs.
In the bottom of the fifth the Birds added to their lead. Nunez led off with a walk and then Reyes smacked a double. Ethan Conrad followed with a two-run double to move the lead to 3-0.
RHP Ethan Storm (4-4, 6.88) received the win for the RiverDogs. RHP David Bracho was tagged with the loss for the Pelicans. RHP Riley Stanford (S,2) got the save.
Myrtle Beach will continue their six-game homestand at Pelicans Ballpark on Friday, July 31 against the Charleston RiverDogs (Single-A Tampa Bay Rays). First pitch is at 7:05 PM. RHP Daniel Avitia (2-2, 3.75) will start on the hill for the Pelicans. RHP Aidan Haugh (8-4, 5.67) gets the start for the RiverDogs.
