
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (August 20, 2026). – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (18-32, 45-69) dropped game three of the six-game series against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (29-20, 61-53) 1-0 on Thursday night at Pelicans Ballpark. With the loss, the Pelicans trail in the weeklong series 0-3.
The Pelicans received a solid pitching performance from starter Chase Meyer (Cubs 25th overall prospect). Meyer tossed four shutout innings while tallying four strikeouts and only surrendering four hits.
RHP John Alkire II made his Pelicans debut in the top of the ninth inning. Alkire II hurled a scoreless inning while registering two punchouts.
Fayetteville scored the only run of the ballgame in the top of the eighth. Logan Hughes led off with a double and then scored on an RBI single from Owen Nowak to give the Woodpeckers a 1-0 lead and eventually the win.
RHP Leomar Rosario (3-2, 5.02) received the win for the Woodpeckers. LHP Hayden Frank (3-8, 4.87) was tagged with the loss for the Pelicans. RHP Carson Estridge (S,1) got the save for Fayetteville.
Myrtle Beach will continue their six-game series at Pelicans Ballpark against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Single-A Astros) on Friday, August 21. First pitch is slated for 7:05 PM. The Pelicans starting pitcher is TBD. RHP Jagger Beck (4-3, 3.01) gets the nod for the Woodpeckers.
